This was easily my favorite thing!! When we were planing our trip I had a few people tell me how much they loved the Road to Hana and then other people tell me how sick it made them! But I am so glad we did it! We had this awesome book–that you should DEFINITELY GET if you’re going to Maui! It detailed so many stops on the Road to Hana. I’m such a sucker for travel books, in almost all of my travel posts I mention what book we used! Don’t just rely on pinterest. Get the literature and you will be so grateful! And we saw tons of other people with this book, that’s when you know it’s good!
We went the second day we were there and I was glad we did. It was easy to wake up early and get going. We also went back to one of the first stops a few days later to do a little hike and waterfall swimming!
Driving through Paia was really amazing to start the day out at!
Our first stop was about half a mile past the mile 6 marker to the Na’ili’ili-haele Falls! It was a pretty easy little hike and this little waterfall and trail were so cute!I loved not feeling guilty for making all of us stop to pull over for pictures because it was ALL SO PRETTY!She really does like us.. I promise.
Our next stop was the Ke’anae Peninsula at mile 13! It was so gorgeous! We hadn’t even planned on pulling over but we saw the peninsula coming up and we just had to!
Right before mile marker 19 there’s the Wailua Valley State Wayside.. this stop.. just WOW.
On one side you’ll see this, such an incredible site!
And on the other side, this incredible valley!
We were loving our lives!
We made a pit stop between mile 22 and 23 at Pua’a Ka’a State Park! We had some snacks we packed, had a bathroom break(not a lot of bathrooms along the road!), and went and played in the water for a little bit! These cute little cats everywhere on the island!!
We TRIED to go down to the coast through Nahiku just past the 25 mile marker. It was so green and gorgeous. But the road down to the coast was closed.. such a bummer! But the drive through the neighborhood was really amazing nonetheless! Just lots of turns!
Lunch time! Our condo had a cooler so it was perfect for us!
Some cliff jumpers.. so insane! The height and waves would have scared me enough, but there’s this crazy squid/fish called the Portuguese Man o’ War that can sting you from like 25 feet away and make you super sick and they all live right there! AHH!
Stop 32 was the Wai’anapanapa black sand beach! Easily my favorite!!!! Seriously you have to stop here! I couldn’t believe how gorgeous it was!My lovely suit is from Albion Fit–I absolutely loved it!!
I legit got hit by a wave during this picture!
I’m not going to lie.. we had been going for a long time by this point and we were so tired! Our next stop was the Sseven Sacred Pools, or the ‘Ohe’o Gulch!
It was $10 for the car and it was worth ever penny.
How is this real???
We were a little bummed because the water was closed!! We couldn’t swim! We didn’t swim all day because we didn’t want to be in the car all day all salty and wet. So we were hoping our last stop we could swim but the water was too high so it was dangerous. It was gorgeous to just look at though.
Trying to get my hair to cooperate and Dave caught probably my favorite picture of me of all time!
Rey going to give Luke the lightsaber.
Just some horses while driving home! You basically have to just finish going around the island to get home and the rest of the drive is pretty ugly and boring!
