You may have seen on my instagram that for mine and my husbands 4th anniversary we went to New York to celebrate! Everything we did was such a blast–but both of us had one favorite! We were able to get tickets to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon! I’ve had so many questions on exactly how we got tickets so I thought it was about time I explained!
Getting Tickets
Firstly, tickets are free! So not only do people want to see the show, but they don’t have to pay to do it! Tickets can be hard to get. The first week of the previous month tickets are released for the entire next month. I looked at our calendar and knew that the only day we could go would be on July 15th, 2016 and I had to request tickets on June 7th, 2016. I created my 1iota account beforehand to make sure I was all ready to go and set a little reminder on my phone to get on my computer the minute I could request them! It was 11am NYC time, and that was 9am in Utah for me!
So I went to tonightshowtix.com when I was ready to get on the waitlist and went down to the calendar, clicked on the show taping for July 15th, and then I just waited! They sent me an email saying I’m on the waitlist and that they would let me know two weeks before the show.
I waited and waited and finally on July 3rd I got the email that I was confirmed for two tickets!!! I was seriously SO excited I screamed! My husband was just as thrilled as I was too!
Going to Jimmy Fallon
The day of the show we landed in New York at about 5:30 am with little to no sleep from our red eye. But the last thing we wanted was to be falling asleep during the show–so we got some rest during the day! We didn’t have to check in to 30 Rock until 3:30, but you can start lining up at 3. So we got there at about 3:10 and wish we would have gotten there ten minutes earlier! We were waiting in line forever and I was nervous the whole time that it was going to be full! Turns out we would have been fine but my nerves could have used the time.
We went through security, waited in the Peacock lounge for almost an hour, and then they started taking us to the studio! My husband, Dave had an aisle seat and we were together. I think about 30 standby’s got in and they would get split up, but they said they started waiting in line at about 2:30 am that day! So I’m even more glad we got confirmed tickets beforehand!
The show was incredible, The Roots, Higgins, and of course, Jimmy were all amazing! Blake Lively and Rachel Maddow were his guests and they were so cool! We laughed so hard, we clapped so much, and we screamed and yelled our hearts out! Jimmy Fallon answered questions while Good Charlotte setup and we even high fived him after the show! It was a once in a lifetime experience and it was so amazing!
All in all, you can be like us and plan and KNOW you’re getting in, or you can wait in standby at 3 am for 6 hours and maybe get in. It’s doable, but the way we did it was so much easier!
