Stirling is SUCH a cool city! I’ve decided to combine both of our trips to Scotland when we visited Stirling to create this list because each time we didn’t do a lot, but together it was a full day!
One of our favorite stops the last time we were in Scotland was Stirling! The castle there is incredible but it’s a pretty big city with lots of things to do and see. I really wanted to see Doune Castle, so on our way back down to Edinburgh when we were finishing our road trip, we decided to spend the night in Stirling again. It was fun to stay in the same hotel we did last time, and eat at Nando’s!
Go to Stirling Castle
Stirling Castle is actually really incredible. And a lot of people who I’ve talked to about traveling to Scotland agree that this is their favorite castle they’ve been to! This should be first on your list in Stirling. A lot of it has actually been restored so it’s really cool to me that you can see what life was actually like for those that lived here. Both inside and outside of the castle were amazing. We visited the castle in mid-March and it was cold, but we went towards the end of the day and there were not a lot of people there!
See the Wallace Monument
We drove up to the Wallace Monument and walked around the grounds for a bit, I was about 7 weeks pregnant at this point and wasn’t up for much hiking! And the first time we went it was actually closed! Even though we didn’t go in either time, I think it was worth the drive there.
Go to Doune Castle
Doune Castle is “Castle Leoch” in Outlander and the castle in Monte Python and the Holy Grail! I loved walking around it (even in the rain) and really enjoyed the audio tour as well.
