Hey everyone! So I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about what my new business, Waverley Design Co. will mean for this current business that I have as a photographer. And I’ll just cut straight to the chase..
1. How will Waverley Design Co. affect Amy Hirschi Photography?
Honestly, not much will change. I’ve been so busy with school these last couple of years that I really haven’t been working full time as a photographer. A full time photographer tends to shoot roughly 30-40 weddings per year and this last year I only shot 14. So I’m right about at part time. I don’t know if I could ever give up photography. I absolutely LOVE this business and this industry! I love being with couples who are so in love and making friends with all of my wonderful brides and grooms! I also want to help educate photographer’s when it comes to business and branding, and help them build their businesses! But I’m also a firm believer that you shouldn’t (and can’t) half ass two things and do them both well.
So for now, I’ll still be shooting! I’m not ready for this chapter of my life to be over. You may see some more personal posts on this blog as I will be taking pictures of everyday life to get my photography fix if I don’t have clients. I’ll be graduating this year and plan to take Waverley full time and work my butt off with that! But that doesn’t mean I’m ready to hang up my camera. Basically I’ll be replacing all the time I’ve been focusing on getting my degree and channel that towards this new venture and still work part time over here.
2. What does Waverley even mean?
Since I’d already used up my name with this business I decided to brand my design business with a company name, not a person’s name. I have this slight obsession with Scotland if you didn’t know, it’s my favorite place! And so I started just looking at names that I liked from cities and places in Scotland and Waverley just stuck!
3. What makes you qualified to run a design business?
I found a love for web design and entrepreneurship when I started this business. I was designing my own website and realized how much I wanted to learn more and become better and simultaneously I started college. Fast forward a few years and I’m about to graduate with my Bachelors Degree from Weber State University in Web Design and Entrepreneurship. My educational and business background gives me a unique understanding of what your business needs and how branding will propel your business forward.
4. What does your new business do exactly?
Branding and websites for photographers and other creative entrepreneurs. So websites, logos, pricing guides, contracts, and other print materials needed for a business to grow and flourish! Read more on my website.
5. Can I hire you?
YES! I’d love to work with you! Whether you’re a photographer, makeup artist, videographer, or other small business I think we could be a great fit! Please contact me through the contact button on Waverley Design Co.
I just want to say thank you so much for all the love and support! With my photography career and now with this new business! It’s been a wild ride the last couple of years but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
